Review: Wendy’s Gouda Bacon Cheeseburger

After a late night out, the best thing is a little greasy fast food. Today I wanted to try the new Wendy’s Gouda Bacon Cheeseburger! This is a 1/4 lbs. single burger with lettuce, tomato, onion, a slice of gouda, and a “swiss gruyere fondue” aka melted swiss cheese all on a brioche bun. It had a sauce that I found similar to the Asiago ranch sauce you get on the chicken sandwich and the bun was similar to the Asiago Ranch Chicken as well.

This is a pretty unique new burger.  I’ve never seen swiss “fondue” on a burger at any of the other fast food joints.  And really, the only places to ever put cheese sauce on a burger are Wendy’s and Arby’s if you count roast beef.  Great to see some original toppings on a burger, even if it is just melty swiss.

This was a very delicious burger! The flavors mix very well. It was soft and chewy with nice crunch from the veg. I was worried I would be missing the standard ketchup and mustard from the burger but everything mixed well together. The combination of cheeses worked well together and the sweetness of the sauce and saltiness of the cheeses really made this burger balance.

I was very happy with this burger and would order it again! Give it a solid 8.5/10
